Position Summary
The HR Coordinator provides administrative and operational support to JWC’s Human Resources department, helping maintain accurate employee records, coordinate HR processes - including onboarding and offboarding, support compliance, and deliver a consistent employee experience. This position works closely with HR team, employees, and other department managers to support the employee lifecycle in a growing, fast-paced site construction environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
HR Administration & Compliance: Maintain employee files, HRIS records, certifications, policy acknowledgments, and other required documentation. Support compliance with applicable federal and South Carolina employment laws, maintain tracking systems, and assist with HR reporting and audits.
Recruitment & Onboarding: Coordinate interview scheduling, candidate communications, pre-employment requirements, new-hire paperwork, and employee orientations for new hire training. Support employee transitions, promotions, status changes, and offboarding processes.
Benefits & Employee Support: Assist with routine benefits, PTO, payroll coordination, and HR system questions. Serve as an approachable resource for employees while maintaining confidentiality and escalating complex employee-relations matters to HR leadership.
HR Programs & Process Improvement: Support employee communications, engagement initiatives, recognition programs, company events, and HR projects. Maintain administrative workflows, track deadlines, prepare routine reports, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and consistency across HR operations.
Qualifications
An associate or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience may be considered. Two or more years of experience in HR administration, coordination, or a related support role is preferred. Experience with HRIS platforms, payroll systems, benefits administration, or applicant tracking systems is a plus. Construction or field-based workforce experience is desirable.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professional communication, discretion, and the ability to manage competing priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems are expected. A service-oriented mindset, accountability, sound judgment, and reliable follow-through are essential.
Performance Expectations
Success in this role is measured by the accuracy and timeliness of HR records, onboarding and offboarding completion, compliance documentation, responsiveness to employee needs, reliability of administrative support, and contributions to improving HR processes. This position has upward room for growth over time within the HR team.
Work Environment
This position primarily works in an office environment, with occasional visits to job sites or other company locations as business needs require. All jobsite visits must follow applicable safety and PPE requirements.
